Today sees the beginning of the annual Miami Winter Music Conference. Every year, the biggest names in global clubbing come together in Miami for one of, if not the, biggest weeks on the dance music calendar. If you’re a clubbing brand, and getting to Miami isn’t on your agenda, it should be. Miami Music Week normally sets the tone for the year. The DJs, tracks and clubnights that are going to be big this summer, will all feature heavily during the week so it’s pretty much a who’s who and what’s what of the year to come.
With so many great parties on offer in Miami this week, choosing what to go to can be a fairly difficult task. So, if you’re stateside and wondering what to get your teeth stuck into, we’ve put together a short list of our top pics to try and help you work out you’re Miami Music Week party schedule.
With parties pretty much running around the clock for the whole week, we thought we’d give you some options for both daytime and nighttime parties. Our first choice is for a day time party and has a distinctive Ibiza feel, it’s MK’s Area 10 Pool Party and it’s taking place on Thursday 28 March in the National Hotel. Just last week, we reported that MK would be bringing his Area10 Pool Parties back to IbizaRocks Hotel for 5 exclusive dates this summer, now we can confirm that he’ll be warming up for these dates with a top notch party in Miami. Joining him on the day will be some absolutely huge acts, with Gorgon City, Lee Foss, Anthony Atalla, Detlef and Frankie Rizzardo to name just a few all featuring on the lineup.
We love a good day time party but, when it comes to the crunch, it’s called “nightlife” for a reason. When the sun goes down, the freaks come out and that’s just the way we like! While their are plenty of top notch daytime parties on the go during the Miami Music Week, the best of the best are unsurprisingly taking place at night. Choosing one of these parties was particularly hard but we’ve gone for one which is pretty close to our heart and always manages to put a smile on our face, elrow. Taking place on Saturday 30 March in the Mana Wynwood Warehouse, elrow will be bringing their trademark bonkers buzz to Miami with music courtesy of Claptone, Patrick Topping, WaFF, Technasia, De La Swing and Latmun plus many more.
If partying on land isn’t your thing, or if you just like a good old fashioned boat party, there are a number of options available for those of you looking to get your sea legs. Our top pick for a bit of nautical messiness is the Detroit Love Boat. Setting sail from the Bay Front North on Tuesday 26 March, the Detroit Love Boat will have two decks of music, with tunes on the day provided by Luciano, Carl Craig, David Squillace, Taimur, Desyn and Onur Özer. This party also comes with an open bar so is the ideal location to get totally ship-faced. Please excuse the bad boat pun.
A lot of the time, parties at events like Miami Music Week get so competitive that the music and vibe take second place to
With so many of the events taking place at Miami Music Week coming from some of the biggest brands in clubbing, it can be hard to find something new. So, we’ve scoured our resources and looked for new parties taking place at this year’s event. Our top pick for new parties is The Circle. This party will be taking place in Caffe Paradiso on Thursday 28 March and will offer a feast of music, art and live performance with the likes of Max Chapman, Døc, Maurizio Rugeiro, Marcello Demarco & Puma to name just a few.
So, originally we were just going to stick to five picks for this post, we picked the different types of parties we were going to write about but as we were going through them we saw one stand out party that we just had to highlight as our special pick. The Miami Music Week Closing Party will be taking place in Club Space on Sunday 31 March. With three rooms of music and performances from artists like The Martinez Brothers, Loco Dice, DJ Sneak, Guti, Martin Buttrich, Butch, Matthias Tanzman, Youseff and tINI, this is the perfect way to end the Miami Music Week. Oh, did we mention this was a twenty-four-hour party? So don’t forget to pack your dancing shoes.
