Defected are without a doubt one of the biggest players in house music anywhere in the world. They are without doubt one of the most consistent labels on the planet with releases like “Cola” from Camelphat & Elderbrook which scooped the Track Of The Season Award at the DJ Awards this year at Hï Ibiza and “Same Man” from Franky Rizardo which has been tearing up the floor at their weekly night in Eden in Ibiza this Season.
Along with their high-quality releases, Defected have killed it in 2017 with their parties so we’ve put together 4 parties that separate the Defected crew from the rest ahead of their Glitterbox closing party tonight in Hï!
EDEN RESIDENCY
Over the last couple of years in Ibiza, San Antonio had been left in a kind of clubbing purgatory. With the final year of Carl Cox and Space, people flocked to Playa d’en Bossa. Then with the opening of Hï Ibiza this season many believed San Antonio would be left behind and neglected once again by the countless clubbing pilgrims who flock to the party capital of the world year in, year out. However, the return of Defected to Ibiza but more importantly Eden in San Antonio ensured no such thing would happen, instead what we saw was a rebirth of clubbing in San Antonio.
Packing out the often forgotten about Eden on a weekly basis seemed to be easy work for the Defected crew. We saw it for ourselves back in September with Jacky B2B Alexis Raphael, Claptone, Special Guest MK and Sonny Fodera playing B2B with Franky Rizardo all on the bill. The renaissance of clubbing in San Antonio was clear once you saw the queue to get into Eden and even more apparent when you saw the crowd that was on the dance floor. Even Defected head honcho Simon Dunmore couldn’t contain his excitement and posted this video on the Defected Facebook page.
Glitterbox In Hï
After the closure of Space last year many promoters who held their parties in the legendary club were left wondering where to go and if their parties would be successful under another roof. Of all of the promoters in Space, Defected’s glamorous night Glitterbox were the only external promoter to keep their place inside the new state-of-the-art club Hï Ibiza. Holding that title alone would garner a lot of pressure but not only were Glitterbox unphased by the pressure but they were welcomed in by their new surroundings in Playa d’en Bossa and quickly became one of the islands best parties. All are welcome at the Glitterbox parties as they boast LGBT+ dancers along with a music policy reminiscent of the early dance music parties in the gay clubs of Chicago and New York in the 80’s and 90’s. Hï is certainly the place for Glitterbox given the inclusive “Club With Us” campaign they have ran since they first opened their doors.
The flamboyant celebration of all things house dominated the weekly lineup in Ibiza and established itself as one of the must-see nights on an island where world-class talent is in every club, every night. The breath-taking stage production coupled with a lineup dominated by house music legends made it an unmissable party for 2017 and beyond.
Defected Croatia
Having taken a hiatus from Ibiza in 2016 to concentrate their efforts on their festival in Croatia, Defected returned to the island triumphantly. Many people questioned the move when they made the decision but the doubters are eating their words now that they can lay claim to two hugely successful nights in Ibiza and an incredible week-long festival in Croatia which has been wildly successful in its own right. The Defected crew take over The Garden Resort in Tisno on the picturesque Adriatic Coast of Croatia from the 10th of August and running until the 15th of August this past year. When you mix huge levels of production, potentially the finest house music lineup of any festival in the world along with a community of die-hard house fans you are in for a treat.
