7 Reasons Why You Cannot Miss Movement Torino Festival Next Month!

by | Sep 29, 2017 | Festivals | 0 comments

I dunno about you but I’ve always wanted to visit Italy for a festival as the country has been a hub for dance music events for quite some time and the events always look insane (Kappa Futur for instance!), but Movement Torino Music Festival has been one of the most recognizable and leading festivals in Europe since it first began back in 2006. Being the sister to Detroit’s Electronic Music Festival, it had a big reputation to live up to and was always going to be a high calibre event.

For this year’s edition, the festival will be a little different compared to last year and will be falling on the 28th-31st of October at the enormous Lingotto Fiere venue, a disused automobile factory used by Fiat. Building up the excitement to this year’s festival there’s going to be a string of parties from the 25th-31st of October known as ‘Halloweek’. The parties will be a lot smaller in scale compared to the main event starting the 28th of OCtober but are 100 percent worth visiting as well.

Here are our 7 reasons you simply cannot miss Movement Turino Festival!

The Mega Line-Up: To compete with other festivals you’re always going to have to go that extra mile with the line-up. Movement has gone in guns blazing with their line-up for this year, it’s absolutely mega. Apollonia, Ben Sims b2b DVS1, Chris Liebing, Derrick May, Jeff Mills, Len Faki, Lil’ Louis , Luciano, Luigi Madonna, Monika Kruse, Nastia, Nic Fanciulli, Nicole Moudaber, Octave One (live), Patrick Topping and Sven Vath are only a few of the names to mention.

Venue Location: The location of Movement is an huge venue known as Lingotto Fiere. What once was an automobile factory to Fiat, the owners decided to completely re-do the building in 1989 to make room for shops, events & more. Fast forward and Movement are bringing the whole festival to this location. Five floors with spiralling stairs, a test track on the roof and an absolutely stunning view of Torino’s city… This is going to be one of the most unique settings you will ever be able to witness at a festival.

Cashless Payments: You may have been to a festival that uses plastic tokens that are used as the currency, but nothing like what Movement uses for theirs. Strip away the tokens and add in a re-chargeable card that converts your cash into digital tokens. You will be using this card for everything at the festival including drink, food, merchandise & more. It’s also good to note that once the festival is over and you have some remaining digital tokens on your card, you can get the full refund back for what you have left over. This is the future!

Transport Flexibility & Environmental Sustainability: Ever since the beginning of Movement, the festival has always had a strong focus on environmental sustainability and good transport to and from the festival grounds.  Since their first event in 2006, they have formed unique friendships to make getting to the festival easier, cheaper and to reduce pollution by lessening traffic jams.

Conference: With most festivals nowadays you go to the festival, you have a great time, listen to some incredible music and you go home, and that’s it! With Movement, they go that extra mile once again to really give you an unforgettable experience with their conferences. Across the course of the festival, they will be holding workshops and cultural events at Politecnico di Torino and a Sound Journey at Turin Airport.

No Selfie Sticks: There’s really nothing worse than when you’re completely immersed in the moment of an insane set and the person next to you is towering over you with a huge selfie stick taking a picture or video of every single thing that happens. Movement takes no a no-sense approach at their festival and wants to ensure everyone has the best time as possible and has put a ban on selfie sticks entirely.

There’s only going to be one type of crowd at this festival, complete music enthusiasts who are there for the vibe.

World Exclusive B2B: If you’re looking to witness history, especially that of two techno giants going B2B, you need to make sure you head over to see DVs1 & Ben Sims on the Tuesday for a complete world exclusive – A B2b nobody in the world has ever witnessed.
