Spanish cops have seized more than €300k in cash from two security deposit boxes belonging to Amnesia Ibiza owner Martín Ferrer.

This is the latest move by police following raids on a number of clubs, including Amnesia, during the summer. The raids are part of an investigation into tax evasion and money laundering in the party capital. In July, Ferrer and three Amnesia employees were arrested and a large sum of money, thought to be around €2 million was seized.

On Thursday morning, October 6th, Mallorcan Guardia Civil officers turned up at two banks in Ibiza town, Banco Sabadell and BMN, reports Diario De Ibiza. A third deposit box, stored on a boat belonging to Ferrer, was also searched, though nothing was found.

All three deposit boxes have been known to the authorities since July. Ibiza magistrate Carmen Marín issued yesterday’s court order so that the money could be officially recorded, taking the total amount of money seized in the investigation to €2.2million.

Amnesia lost its license for Saturday’s closing party earlier this week after last weekend’s Music On event ran several hours past its curfew, however latest reports say that this license has been reinstated.
