Ibiza Today: Everything You Need To Know Today On The White Isle

by | Jan 29, 2019 | Archive | 0 comments

As we enter the final days of April, there’s a real buzz around Ibiza. The weather is warming up, bars, restaurants, cafes and venues are opening left, right and center and tourists are arriving by the plane full every single day.

With so much going on around the island, it’s hard to keep up with everything, so we’ve decided to put everything you need to know right here, into one easy to find post, giving you your daily dose of Ibiza knowledge wrapped up in a nice little package that’s easier to digest than a chicken pitta from Ibiza Rocks cafe.

Let’s Get This Party Started

First things first, with so much already going on on the island, it’s no surprise to learn that not one but two of our favourite places to party kicked their seasons off in style this weekend. Ibiza really was the place to be on Saturday with Cirque de la Nuit and Pikes Hotel both hosting their very first party of the summer.

Cirque de la Nuit have long been our go-to boat party in Playa d’en Bossa so it gives us great pleasure to see their season getting up and running and off to an absolute flyer. If you’re staying in or around Bossa this year and looking to get yourself out on the open sea for some fun and frolics, and a whole lot of alcohol, in the sun, we highly recommend you book yourself onto one of their boat parties. Tickets are available here and we suggest you get them nice and early to avoid disappointment.

You might not have heard of Pikes Hotel, it is one of the island’s best-kept secrets after all, but whether you’re aware of it or not, they began their 2019 season with aplomb on Saturday. Featured on the line up where many of Ibiza’s favourite selectors with Melon Bomb, Graham Sahara, Doorly and Artwork all bringing their A game until the very early hours of Sunday morning.

San Antonio Moving From Strength To Strength

Big news is coming from San Antonio on a very regular basis and we have to say, it makes us extremely happy. We’ve always been fully behind a San An revival and we really think that this year, we’re making huge strides toward seeing the town back where it belongs at the top table of Ibiza’s clubbing landscape.

Ibiza Rocks have just announced yet another brand new pool party residency, this time they’re teaming up with La Discothèque for a series of five Monday parties between 26 August and 23 September. No lineups have been announced yet but with the San An hotel doing big things this summer we’re expecting them to bring even more heat to the town with La Discothèque. With a big summer on the cards this year we advise you to get tickets for La Discothèque or any of their other events here well in advance.

The team at Eden are also doing their bit to put San Antonio back on the map, last year Defected was one of the island’s most popular nights and they’ve added to that this season by teaming up with Mark Knight’s Tool Room to bring you what is sure to be one of the hottest new parties of the summer. They’ve just released their full season lineups and we think you’ll agree with us when we say that there is plenty of events to look forward to over the summer.

The Game’s Never Over

Game Over have constantly been bringing some of the summer’s most memorable parties over the last few years so every time we hear they’re involved in a new party we get pretty excited. This year they’ve found a brand new home in Heart, where they will host Wildchild, a completely new party, every Saturday. They throw their opening party on 1 June and even though they haven’t released any lineups, you always know you’re going to get quality with Game Over. We’re really excited about this in one of the island’s most underrated venues.

A True Ibiza Legend

Every year, IMS pick one of the most influential characters from the island and name them as an IMS legend. This year the honour goes to Javier Anadon, the founder of Café Mambo. It’s a well-deserved honour too, with Mambo becoming one of the island’s true institutions. The Ibiza sunset is a world-famous phenomenon and it has become synonymous with Café Mambo, if you’ve ever been to the island, chances are you’ve spent at least one evening at Café Mambo listening to quality tunes and watching the sun drop behind the horizon, all thanks to Javier. Hats off to you sir, we salute you. A true Ibiza legend!

Grubs Up

There’s a lot of competition between San Antonio and Playa d’en Bossa, but is there anything more competitive than the island’s burger market? Bossa has Steak ‘n’ Shake and San An has Pennsylvania Burger. In our opinion, they’re both equally good, with both having plenty of merits of their own. Whatever your preference, we’re sure you’ll be happy to hear that Pennsylvania Burger is open and serving the juiciest patties in San Antonio once again.
