Radio Team

Ibiza Club News Radio has been bubbling around in the background for quite a few weeks now. Testing, plotting, dancing to ourselves, preparing for a long winter of great music leading into hopefully the return of summer in 2021. As we celebrate our official launch, it’s time to get to know the residents. This time around, we chat to Bingil…

Hey! Nice to meet you. What’s your name?

Bingil

What made you want to be a DJ?

Since I can remember I have always loved dance music even from a very young age I remember being obsessed with my parents disco cd collections. When I was 12 a won an iPod shuffle on a stacker arcade game. I remember filling up that Ipod up with a ton of electronic records like the ministry of sound annual 2007 daft punk and heavy hardstyle beats. I would spend hours finding and downloading so many random remixes from limewire youtube and myspace that you couldn’t buy or find on the itunes store. Everyone at school wanted to borrow my iPod to listen to. That’s when I thought maybe I should be a DJ.

I had a high school teacher who was a ex international DJ with residencies around Europe on our year 8 camp he asked me if I wanted to DJ in front of everyone that was my first gig. There was no decks all I had to do was choose a song from my Ipod and press play and wave my hands in the air. All i can remember is playing Fedde Le Grand put your hands up for Detroit and everyone loving it. I would go onto DJ all through out high school and when I was 16 I won a DJ comp to play with some of the biggest DJ’s on the planet at time like LMFAO. Armin Van Buuren, Afrojack and the Bloody beetroot. I had the most incredible experience DJing, hanging out backstage and watching the other DJ’s play. From that day on I realised I want to do this for the rest of my life. It’s been nearly 10 years since that day and I’ve never looked back.

What are your top 5 tunes EVER? We’ll be secretly judging you, so they better be good.

Tough one as its always changing but hands down these songs will always have lasting memories.
Moby – Porcelain (Pure melancholy bliss)
Stardust – Music Sounds Better With You (Timeless Dance Record)
Kool and the Gang – Get Down on it (Song of my childhood)
Patrice Rushen – Forget me Nots (Best bass line of all time)
Sneaky Sound System – Pictures (Sound of my Youth)
Jamiroquai – Cosmic Girl (Sexiest song of all time)
Zero 7 – Destiny (Left the planet listening to this song)

Put any of these records on and you will evoke a vibe straight away.

Whats your favourite club and why?

That’s easy DC-10 Ibiza. The production quality and sound is on another level comparing to Australian Clubs it was my first time in Ibiza and I got to see Hot Since 82 and Jamie Jones do some real dance floor damage in that Club. I stayed till the very end till 7am and I remember having to wait 2 hours just to get a cab back into my hostel totally worth it. Genuinely felt magic in the air that night

Tell us your favourite thing about being a DJ?

Performing to a large crowd and connecting with the audience through my music or my favourite records. Going through a journey from start to finish.

What advice have you been given in life that you found useful?

Quincy Jones – “I learned a long time ago, your music can never be more or less than you are as a human being.”

Lockdowns have been awful for dance music, if you had to make a bet – how do you see 2021 playing out?

Clubs slowly opening through the halfway point of 2021 with the scene returning by the end of 2021

Where is the best place for people to check out your music?

My Spotify

Tell us about this months mix?

I recorded this mix to showcase some of my favourite records I think would be playing in Ibiza this season if the clubs where open. The songs remind me of Mambos, DC-10 and Hi Ibiza. Can’t wait till I’m back sipping on a cocktail by the beach listening to some cafe del mar lounge records. This vibe needs to come to Australia ASAP.
