Ibiza Club News Radio has been bubbling around in the background for quite a few weeks now. Testing, plotting, dancing to ourselves, preparing for a long winter of great music leading into hopefully the return of summer in 2021. As we celebrate our official launch, it’s time to get to know the residents. This time around, we chat to Cyprusian…
Hey! Nice to meet you. What’s your name?
What made you want to be a DJ?
As this is a very very… very long story ill keep it short and simple. The thing that made me want to be a Dj is this burning desire to party to good music. I found myself going to parties and at times I felt the music should go in a certain direction so I thought why wait and hope? Ill learn how to use the equipment and mix and I can be the maestro.
Through my journey from bedroom to stage, I have gained a much greater appreciation for the art of being a quality selector.
I just hope I will have the chance to make my dreams come true and play music for everyone across the world. Music truly offers such a profound connection, its magical.
What are your top 5 tunes EVER? We’ll be secretly judging you, so they better be good.
oh wow. I have to name only 5? Thats like asking me what’s your favourite food?
I can’t possibly select only 5, especially if I choose from all the genres I listen to, so I will give you my 5 most played this year.
Whats your favourite club and why?
This is another hard one. In the uk I will go with FOLD in London. I saw Richie Hawtin there and the place was just banging! The perfect venue for techno with its raw industrial look, and its in an industrial estate too! Goes without saying that the soundsystem is superb also.
Tell us your favourite thing about being a DJ?
As cheesy as this will sound, my favourite thing is connecting with the crowd. I play for them and when I can see people dancing their hearts out and smiling I can’t ask for a better feeling.
What advice have you been given in life that you found useful?
My father always use to tell me: ” I can’t, is not in your vocabulary. If you can’t, its because you don’t want to. You can do anything but it takes work”.
The older I get, the more I appreciate the value of this. Definitely made me who I am today.
Lockdowns have been awful for dance music, if you had to make a bet – how do you see 2021 playing out?
This is tough. Torn between what im hoping for and what I see realistic.
I think the scene will be very different. I expect a lot of venues will shut, and although sure, others will open in the future, some venues with huge legacies might not survive.
I think the longer this drags, illegal raves will be on the rise. People have a need to release and blow of steam. No better place than a dance floor for that.
Im not a fan of the virtual stuff, its just not right. The governments need to acknowledge this issue and work with the venues to find a solution.
I am hopeful thought that come march 2021 we will be able to start partying again, safety first of course.
Where is the best place for people to check out your music?
Spotify for my releases and soundcloud for mixes and free downloads.
Tell us about this months mix?
All my mixes are done on the fly. I don’t pre-plan them. I have a usb with 60-100 tracks on and just have a little party in my living room
