Ibiza Club News Radio has been bubbling around in the background for quite a few weeks now. Testing, plotting, dancing to ourselves, preparing for a long winter of great music leading into hopefully the return of summer in 2021. As we celebrate our official launch, it’s time to get to know the residents. This time around, we chat to Jakadam…
Hey! Nice to meet you. What’s your name?
What made you want to be a DJ?
I have been passionate about music my whole life. For me, it is the escapism of putting on your headphones and leaving the world and the worries of it outside. I suppose, what made me want to pursue DJ’ing was back in 2012/2013 when I saw Will Sparks live in Waterford, Ireland. The energy in the room was amazing that night and I knew this is something that I wanted to be apart of. From there on I bought by first pair of decks a couple of weeks after that gig and the rest is history.
What are your top 5 tunes EVER? We’ll be secretly judging you, so they better be good.
Jakadam- Keep on the Move
George Kwali- Dream Enough
Incognet- La Finita
Monolink – Return to Oz( Arbat Remix)
Whats your favourite club and why?
My Favourite club has to be the foundry in Waterford, Ireland. Its now called Factory. I have seen so many big big acts play here and I have so many memories of the place! A club to get too if your ever in Ireland for sure.
Tell us your favourite thing about being a DJ?
My Favourite thing about DJ’ing has to be the rush I get when the crowd is going crazy and feeling the energy in the room, it’s a feeling like no other I have felt. It’s funny because after all these years you still get that feeling every time you play a club.
What advice have you been given in life that you found useful?
I am big into positive psychology and life coaching, I remember watching a Tony Robbins documentary about 3 years ago and he made a statement which was ‘ Stay committed to your decisions, but stay flexible in your approach’. That has always stayed with me throughout my journey through DJ’ing/ Production and life in general. I think you always have to be flexible in your approach to life.
Lockdowns have been awful for dance music, if you had to make a bet – how do you see 2021 playing out?
As we know lockdown as been a very difficult time for the music industry as a whole. I would say that slowly but surely clubs and venues will start to open back up hopefully, but it is going to take time to rebuild the industry I feel. Hopefully we will see live gigs back in February/ March 2021.
Where is the best place for people to check out your music?
The best place to check me out is on Spotify and Soundcloud. I am also on facebook and Instagram if you search jakadamdj.
Tell us about this months mix?
This months mix is a combination of all my favourite tracks at the moment. It is a real feel good mix and I think that’s what people need right now, especially several months in to Covid-19 and what’s happening over the world. Hopefully I can sprinkle some positive vibes and get you up dancing!
