Melvo Baptiste Picks The Top 7 Tracks That Have Been Doing Damage This Season At Glitterbox!

Ahead of tomorrow night’s festivities with Glitterbox at , I sat down with none other than Melvo Baptiste, the voice behind the Glitterbox weekly radio show, one of the core A&R figures in Defected Records, a stellar DJ in his own right and of course a die-hard house music lover.

Why have I though you ask? Well, Glitterbox has been one of the most popular nights on the Island without question! Ranging from the insane production, like-minded crowd, and of course the music policy! They’ve been absolutely nailing it from every angle.

Without further a due, let Melvo bring you on the musical journey of Glitterbox this season so far!

Shapeshifters featuring Teni Tinks – Try My Love (On For Size)

Absolute stand out record & for me, the biggest of the summer. Euphoric dance floor moments & still gives me goosebumps.

Purple Disco Machine – Body Funk

Somewhat of a slow burner, while most of the island was getting behind ‘Dished (Male Stripper), this 2017 release from PDM has been slowly turning itself into a peak time monster.

Selace – So Hooked On Your Lovin’  (Mousse T’s Disco Shizzle Mix)

I played this at Glitterbox in Zurich in June, I’ve never been tagged so many times asking for the track ID! The original is a beautiful song, Mousse T showed us again why he is a housemaster! Amazing remix sounds fat in the club.

Melé & Shovell – Pasilda (Extended Mix)

A huge hit for me & others this summer at Glitterbox, rework of a classic from Melé & Shovell.

Sister Sledge – He’s The Greatest Dancer (Dimitri From Paris Remix)

We were all eagerly awaiting the new album from Dimitri, I watched him drop this in the club room at Hi in his usual elegant fashion, the place absolutely erupted!

Salif Keita – Madan (Martin Solveig Exotic Disco Mix)

This was my final track before handing over to Joey Negro earlier this summer at Hi, although the best part of 16 years old, energy is and sonically still stands up.

Luke Solomon featuring Queen Rose & Amy Douglas – Light You Up (Louie Vega Remix)

This has become a staple in so many DJ’s sets over the summer & I’ve heard every mix of it played at Glitterbox. The kind of record that will be getting support for years to come.
