Predictions: San Antonio To Have A Big Summer

Here at Ibiza Club News we make no secret of our undeniable love for San Antonio, it’s our spiritual home, the bread to our butter, the ying to our yang and most certainly the vodka to our Red Bull but, for some reason, the mere mention of the town receives scowls and scorn from certain sects on the island.

Why? We do not know. San Antonio has some of the best restaurants, music venues and bars on the island, not even to mention the wonderful Sunset Strip, but for some reason the stigma of the West End over rules all of these factors and people constantly judge and make assumptions of the entire town on the basis of two or three streets. Let’s be real for a minute, the West End, while not too everyone’s taste, still plays a major part in the island’s economy and introduces new generations of tourists to the island year after year.

So, we feel that it’s about time people start to give San Antonio a break and look beyond their West End preconceptions. This week in our Predictions section we’re going out on a limb by going on record and saying we think San Antonio is going to be a much rejuvenated spot in 2019.

So, what has us thinking this? Well, there a number of factors involved but, first and foremost, the driving force behind putting San AnaN back on the map has to be a health clubbing scene and, for the first time in quite a while, things finally feel like they are moving in the right direction. Eden had a great season this Summer, with brands like Defected and Bongos Bingo regularly packing the venue to its capacity.

We’ve had our ear close to the ground and we’ve heard rumours about some other major brands ready to make the lush San Antonio club their home in 2019. With so much going on in Eden, surely it’s time for ES Paradis to up their game too, or risk being left behind altogether. Last year’s Clockwork Orange Anniversary Party gave us all a gentle reminder of what one of the island’s most beautiful venues still has to offer and we’re really hoping to see more of the same next year. Imagine a San An with both Eden and Es Paradis firing on all cylinders again. Awesome!

Earlier this summer we also brought you news that Ocean Beach was rebranding as O Beach and taking control of the neighbouring Surf House, with a brand new project in the venue set to commence at the end of next season. With the O Beach brand being so strong already, we can only imagine that this will add some extra spice to the beach club scene in San An and help to drive the number of people visiting the town up and up. Add that to the pool parties hosted by Ibiza Rocks and it’s clear that San An is stepping up to rival Bossa on the daytime party front.

We’ve also got the ever present rumours of Space making the move to San An with a new build. Whether or not this ever happens remains to be seen but, at the moment, the mere presence of rumours is enough to add a little bit of extra spice to the area.
