Review: RFM SOMNII Was One Of The Best Festivals We’ve Ever Been To

RFM SOMNII had plenty of new tricks up its sleeve this year. One of Europe’s largest beach festivals decided on an all-new main stage design that had to be seen to be believed. It rose directly out of the 33km long sand beach and towered over us with speaker stacks, vast screens, lights and lasers all forming a big wall of audio-visual entertainment as you have never seen before.

Also new for this year, was a big selection of after-party events in various clubs, and even a casino, in the local town of Figueira da Foz. These provide plenty of opportunities for everyone to party on well after the last beat on the beach and will be grown in future years with a conference type feel similar to ADE.

Back on the beach, it’s hard not be blown away by the big, electric beats of EDM stars like DJ Snake, Afrojack and Alesso, while reggaeton and hip hop also come from Tyga and Ozuna. The special production really brings their sounds alive and gets great reactions from the vast crowds of people who flock from all over Europe.

Something that makes it so appealing is not only the hot sun and great location right by the sea, but also the affordability of the food and drink here. It means you can tuck in and drown yourself in as much booze as you like without worrying about your credit card bill when you get home. When the sunsets at the event, chills go down your spine and the whole experience changes to a more mischievous and nighttime affair. In short, RFM SOMNII is a breathtaking event that everyone needs to experience at least once in their life.
