Popular workers bar Viva! brings down the curtains tonight, possibly for the last time, as club owner and long time Ibiza resident, Nathan Viva, looks to be selling up and moving on to new ventures. The West End hot spot has been operating for 10 years and prides itself on being the only location offering underground house on the San Antonio strip.
Cheap, affordable drinks and a popular place to meet have endeared the club to many workers and tourists alike, as well as Viva’s policy of giving up and coming DJ’s a chance to play, most notably Hannah Wants, who won their DJ competition way back in 2010, since gaining international fame and playing in some of the island’s biggest clubs.
The bar is currently up for sale, you can check out the advert here, the price – a negotiable €74.000 for the remaining 4 years of the lease. We caught up with Nathan to chat about the sale.
“The bar has been up for sale since August and I’ve had some really serious interest, but there was nothing I could do about it until the closing party and we close for the season… today is the closing party and I’d expect it to be sold by the end of the month at the latest – once all negotiations are done. There is the slight chance that we’ll carry on until next year, but I’d say those chances are slim at the moment”.
So there you have it, the bar/club can be yours, for the right offer. Are you the person to take on the challenge? Only thing is you’ll have to come up with your own name, as Nathan says;
“I wouldn’t sell it to anyone (unless the offer was ridiculous!) as it means too much to me. Whether the new owners carry on what I’ve done, or change it completely, i don’t know… but it won’t be “Viva!” anymore, that’s for sure”.
