It’s been confirmed that a well-known party enhancer in Ibiza, ‘laughing gas’, has officially been banned by the Ibiza government.

Following on from recent reports from The Sun, there have been eight deaths in Britain alone linked towards laughing gas and its effects on a person.

The law officially states though that police officers can only arrest a person if they’re caught selling the substance, with fee’s ranging from €750 (£647) to €1,500 (£1,374) and more. But if a holidaymaker is caught breaking the said rule, can face up to €3,000 (£2,700) in fines.

A spokesperson for San Antonio Council said: “The government team in San Antonio will propose a modification to an existing by-law governing civil coexistence which will ban the consumption of nitrous oxide in public. Under the current rules, local police can only act against those people they catch selling the substance in the street.“

“Consumers cannot be punished because laughing gas is not considered to be an illegal substance or catalogued as a drug.”
